Vitamin B12 or folate deficiency anaemia can cause a wide range of symptoms. These usually develop gradually, but can worsen if the condition goes untreated.

Anaemia is where you have fewer red blood cells than normal or you have an abnormally low amount of a substance called haemoglobin in each red blood cell. Some people may be at risk of vitamin B12 if they are on a vegan diet and fail to get enough B12 through food. Some of the symptoms of having a deficiency in vitamin B12 include tiredness, weakness, low moods, difficulty concentrating, pale skin, brittle nails, loss of sensations in the hands and feet and many more. Adults aged 19 to 64 need about 1.5 micrograms a day of vitamin B12.
